Basic White Rice

Ingredients
1 ½ cups white rice
1 ¾ cups water



Rinse rice in a mesh strainer until water comes out clear. Add rice and water to a pot and set aside to soak for at least 30 minutes.

Turn burner to medium and heat uncovered until the water bubbles around the edges but doesn't reach a full boil. Cover, reduce heat to minimum, and cook for 15 minutes.

Remove pot from heat and let rest, still covered, for 15 minutes. Uncover and gently fluff to let steam escape. Using a wooden spoon, turn the rice over so that the bottom rice is now on the top. Cover and let rest for 5 more minutes.
